Blaumar Hotel is the only hotel in Salou that has had the Q for Quality award and the EMAS and ISO 14001 certificates for environmental management for several years now.
  
The efforts of our staff and the cooperation of our guests have played an important part in this achievement. That is why every year we continue to introduce improvements both in our service to guests and the environmental performance of the establishment.
Our Quality and Environment Committee meets monthly to analyse the results of the satisfaction questionnaires filled in by almost 2,000 guests every year. Thanks to this information, we are able to adapt our services to their expectations and, at the same time, contribute towards protecting the environment.
In recognition of these measures, we have been awarded several prizes and diplomas by both public bodies and tour operators:
2003: the Eco Cambra Award for Company Environmental Development
2004: the Environmental Hotel Award 2004/2005 from the Swiss tour operator Hotelplan and the “Neckermann Primo” Award 2004, on being chosen as one of the best hotels in the world by that tour operator’s customers.
2005: "TUI 2005 Environmental Champion" as one of the top 100 TUI hotels in the world and the Catalonia Tourism Diploma awarded by the Catalan Autonomous Regional Government in recognition of our distinguished career and contribution to the promotion of tourism in Catalonia
2006: “TUI 2006 Environmental Champion”
The following are some of the environmental protection measures we have taken:
- We have installed “Clean Points” in the hotel corridors, with separate containers for guests to deposit their glass and plastic waste.
- Our guests are given an “environmental ashtray” made of recycled plastic and invited to contribute towards keeping our beaches and countryside clean.
- We have installed soap and shampoo dispensers in the rooms, saving approximately 31,000 individual containers.
- We have jam and cereal dispensers on the breakfast buffet, reducing by 4% the number of individual plastic containers used.
- Environmental education has been introduced into the children’s activity programme, in which they learn about separating recyclable waste.
- We have installed aluminium window and doorframes with double-glazing in all our rooms to avoid heat or air conditioning loss and to reduce the noise level inside the room.
- Other measures: trickle irrigation, low energy light bulbs, flow reducer systems in cisterns and taps, sensor-controlled automatic air conditioning system disconnectors, power consumption sectorisation, etc.
